Hit the 1500 word mark!

I hit the 1500 word mark on my novel. A total of 1588 actually. It's still the rough draft, which will need a lot of re-writing and editing, but it's a good start. I find it good to walk away from it when I know exactly what comes next, and I'm excited to write about it... That way when I sit back down to keep going, I'm not staring at a blank page. It keeps me pumped up about getting back to it. I suppose the same argument could be made for not leaving the work when you are still passionate about it, but so far this works for me.

  1. Dear Nina, It is great that you have achieved this milestone. It has taken me since 1989 to get this far with my novel, but now I can 'see the light at the end of the tunnel.' It took me little time to write the first part of my novel, but then it got sidetracked, and it just sat and gathered dust in my office, as I changed jobs, locations and computer systems. But now I've run out of excuses, and, with the help of some well meaning friends, The Book of Drachma is almost a complete reality.
You may go through some uptimes and downtimes with your novel, but do keep at it, for it is worth every drop of blood, sweat and tears that you put into it - I know, and I've learned the hard way.

  2. Keep it up Nina, starting is always the hardest and establishing a rhythm is something I myself have always struggled with. Sounds like you got a good one going though. Good Luck!
