A little bit of everything

Because of the awesome blog hop this weekend, I've got a little catching up to do, so this post is going to be a little bit of everything.

First, a big thank you to RJR for hosting this Media Mayhem Blog Hop - What a treat it was. I was able to find and follow some great new blogs AND it was a trip down media-memory lane!

Second: If you haven't already put your name in for the blog contest giveaway at UnicornBell, get a move it on people!

Third: After much procrastinating, I finally finished the 3rd book in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich: Three to get Deadly. Now you may interpret that to mean I didn't enjoy the book, since it took me over a month to get through 321 pages - but you would be dead wrong. I've been treating myself to just a few pages a day because I don't have book #4 yet and I didn't want the adventure to end, sadly I still don't have the 4th book. So I will be sans-Plum for a little while :(

Fourth: I finished the first draft of the 3rd chapter of my novel yesterday! Woot woot!!!

Fifth and final: If you haven't submitted a piece to The Memory Eater Anthology yet, get at it! I'll be starting a hashtag on twitter today for the anthology - follow it or add your comments with the tag #memoryeater

I think that does it for today! A special thanks to everyone who participated in this weekends Media Mayhem blog hop again, it was really fantastic.

Blog Hop Day #3 - Blogs

Monday - Blogs
Here is a chance to share something about 3 blogs you follow and why, it may be one that you have found on Saturday or Sunday, or one you have followed for a while.

Blog #1
The Leaky Pencil
What can I say? Chris is a Canadian author, also from Ontario, like myself and he's a smart and funny guy. He also provided a flash fiction challenge on his blog, and I'm a sucker for flash fiction.

Blog #2
One Voice - Write Right
I met Joni through the F2K writing course. Her blog has an interesting and honest voice - plus it's loaded with tons of fun and useful information.

Blog #3
JM Tohline
I'm new to this blog, and I've loved it so far. I wish him great success with his novel "The Great Lenore". I can hardly wait to get my hands on it.

Blog Hop Day #2 - Movies

Sunday - Films
Post about 3 films you like, again you choose how to present, but the idea is to to let us know why so we can get to know you a little better.

Movie #1
Dirty Dancing
Why? Because I was at just the right influential age when this movie came out, and it became a staple of my youth.

Movie #2
Constantine and Stigmata and The Order
I know, I cheated - but I like all three of them for the same reasons. I love movies with religious or spiritual themes. The good vs. evil, God vs Satan, People vs. The Church... either way, these movies are my cup of sinister tea.

Movie #3
Wonder Boys
Come on folks, this is a blog about writing -- I couldn't NOT choose a film that inspires the writer in me every time I watch it. If you haven't seen this one yet, give it a whirl.

Blog Hop Day #1 - Songs

Saturday - Songs
Post about 3 songs you like, they may or may not be your favourite. Blog how you want, include Youtube clips, or written lyrics, its your blog you choose the style, but tell us why you chose them and let your creative side be free !

Song#1
The Flatliners - The Eulogy Song
I can write a long list of beautiful mourning songs to play at a funeral, but there are few out there that are actually a little upbeat. On May 27th 2011, we put my murdered sister's body to rest in a cemetery - 3 years after her death. At her funeral, held a few days after her body was found, the song that played over the speakers of the funeral was "Season in the Sun" and a super-talented woman sang an amazing rendition of "Amazing Grace" that gave the packed parlor-room chills. But this year, this day of laying her body to rest now that the trials have been completed, I found this song to be far more appropriate. My sister liked her music loud, she would dance anywhere - so I like to think this one is a little more her style.

Song#2
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Why do I love this song? Perhaps it's the awesome lyrics, maybe it's the great music, but my guess is -- I love it because it's one of the few songs I can sing on Guitar Hero almost perfectly.

Song#3
Meatloaf - Bat out of Hell
I would be happy with pretty much any song on this album. In fact, if I were stuck on a deserted island and could only bring one CD, this would be the one. Really, who doesn't need a little rock-opera in their lives?

My First Blog Hop

I'm joining my first Blog Hop. Do I have any idea what that means? Not particularly, but I've enjoyed reading the results of other Blog Hops so I thought I'd give it a go.
Visit RJR Daydreamer for details on this Hop. Looks like fun and you still have until the weekend to join.
